This piece of work is surely one of the finest short stories written in the English language. It is such a feast of beautiful language and writing.
Here’s my reading at the Rome Area History Center (Rome, GA). It started off a little shaky because I was too short for the lectern (story of my life!), and the lighting was low. But we figured it out. You’ll see that I got rather emotional in a couple of places in the story; that happens every time. Capote was masterful at moving his readers.
The event was presented by Georgia’s Rome as part of the Downtown Holiday Open House. Thanks to everyone who made it possible–and happy watching!
